On Koh Samui, a beautiful island in Thailand, where the exotic food is a main tourist attraction, "Yindees" means welcome. Nirun Kong thong, our head chef, met his Capetonian wife on Samui Island, and brought his hometown recipes here to delight us. Yindees started as a tiny venue, and has grown into the Yindees that we know and love today. With the success it became necessary for us to engage additional chefs, familiar with our tradition of authentic southern Thai home cooking, such as the recipes that were passed down from Nirun's uncle Klow, the fisherman, and his grandmother, Luhn. We managed to get the best. Yindees is now privileged to have a family team of chefs, including Nirun's two sisters, Wilaivan Kongtong, and her baby sister, Onanong Kongthong.
