The business was started in 1916 by Arthur Upton, An English immigrant. In the early stages business was done by catalogues and a selection of 700 items were railed throughout the country as far as what was then Rhodesia. Since then the business has had to adapt to market changes with the next stage of evolution being the carpet fitting and curtain making era which included the importing of carpets and curtains. Flooring products, curtains and blinds remains an important part of our operation. Being importers of a super range of English reproduction furniture during our furniture era, we were also exclusive retailers for most of the top end furniture manufacturers in the country. Although the market has changed or focus is on specialized custom-made furniture for a niche market. With the change in the flooring market and the introduction of hard flooring such as tiles, there was opportunity to import area rugs.
