Taung District Hospital is a level 1 hospital which is located in Greater Taung Municipality, at Dr. R.S. Mompati district in the North West Province. Taung has Population of 196 725 (census 2001) with three tribal demarcation areas and is made up of 22 municipal wards. Taung has 96 villages and two (2) townships (with small/ low population density). It was established in 1931 by a Roman Catholic Church Nun as a one room structure and was named St. Konrad Hospital in 1943, and further infrastructural development ensued. It was renamed Taung Community Hospital in 1977and in 2003 it was again renamed to be Taung District Hospital.
