Performance Masterbatch first came about in 1980 when it formed part of an extension of dry powder blending operation Custom Colour. The idea was to meet the need in Southern Africa for a high quality, service orientated masterbatch manufacturer. In 1999 the business was taken over by Chemical Services. The new company went from strength to strength, growing to become the largest manufacturer of Masterbatches in the Southern Africa - with state-of-the-art testing and manufacturing equipment and employing highly skilled staff. In 2007 the shareholders bought the company from Chemical Services and joined their brand, Polymer Colour Systems, with those of Custom Colour and Performance Masterbatch and becoming a member of the SpeedBird Group of companies.
