The Lakewood Lodge in South Africas City of Roses, Bloemfontein, was built in 1962 and was since 1987 used by the Performing Arts Council of the Free State to accommodate visiting artists performing at the Sand du Plessis Theatre. In 1999 the trustees of the house thoroughly modernised the guesthouse, realising that the central location of the Lakewood Lodge, close to the CBD of Bloemfontein, makes it ideal for visiting tourists, business executives, theatre-goers, shoppers, sport enthusiasts and more. Now, the Lakewood Lodge offers prime guesthouse accommodation to the general public. The Lakewood Lodge is close to just about everything Bloemfontein has to offer: the CBD, the Sand du Plessis Theatre complex, the Bloemfontein Zoo, two shopping centre.
