Addicom introduced Waterless Urinals in 1983 into South Africa. We are now introducing a hugely improved EcoSmellstop system of absolutely superior quality. We plan to hand over the assembly of the ESS, consisting of seven components, to a social workshop employing handicapped people. The National Building Research Institute tested our urinals and shortly afterwards Johannesburg Municipality and the Carlton Hotel installed the first Waterless and Odorless urinals in South Africa. The Swiss system worked very well but was relatively costly as the oil sealant had to be replaced frequently. In 2003 Addicom patented a system without a sealing liquid and this triggered a phenomenal response. Therefore a phenomenal cost saving could be achieved! The initial capital outlay for the Addicom system will be recovered within a very short time and an upgrade of a water flushed urinal to waterless will pay for itself in even shorter time.
