In 1998, Org Nieuwoudt started converting the Old Gourits Hotel into self catering units with his bare hands one unit at a time. Today we know it as Gourits Self Catering Units, under the Gourits Nieuwoudt Trust. Org`s wife, Sanet Nieuwoudt runs the Gourits Self Catering Units, as well as the Kontrei Winkel (Onsite Shop). We have 16 units in total, but are numbered from 1 - 17, keeping the "Old Hotel" tradition number 13 as bad luck. Each unit has its own braai, bathroom, fully equipted kitchen, microwave, fridge,TV and more.Units at the front of the building all have sea views, while the units at the back of the building all have views of the town, the old church and the famous open field which we know as the "Old Caravan Park".The "Old Caravan Park" is now a public park and is a rocks throw from the building for fun activities like playing cricket.
