AMD Engineering was established in 1994 by Alan Dike (BSC Mech Eng, UCT 1992).Originally started with the primary objective of building indoor corporate go-karts (indoor karting), some 350 karts were designed, fabricated and supplied over the next two years, to most of the operators around the country. To grow the business further, it became necessary to establish a core speciality and the decision was made to move into the architectural steel and retail fixturing arena.Over the next decade AMD Engineering built a solid reputation for quality shopfitting metalwork, supplying both shopfitting outfitters and retail groups directly. AMD has thereby developed and supplied ranges for multiple groups, including: The Foschini Group, Woolworths, Sportsmans Warehouse, Truworths/YDE, Queenspark, United Interiors, The Diamond Works, Spitz to name but a few.
