Originally known as Magaliesberg Citrus Co-operative Ltd when it was established as a pack house for fresh fruit in 1959, Magaliesberg Citrus Company (Pty) Ltd is now one of South Africas leading citrus processing plants.When fresh fruit prices were low in 1965, Magalies ventured into processing citrus fruits and began manufacturing fruit juice concentrates. Since that momentous year, Magalies has grown from strength to strength to become a leading manufacturer of the highest quality fruit juice concentrates and by-products in South Africa.Registered as a private company in 2005, Magalies now has approximately 90 shareholders (citrus farmers) who deliver about 50 000 tons of citrus fruit for processing every year. The 11 different citrus varieties grown by the shareholders in the Brits area, North West Province, are processed into approximately 3 million litres of concentrate, as well as a vast range of citrus and non-citrus based products.
