Monument High School is situated in Krugersdorp, South Africa. Monument High School has a rich and proud history. The school was opened on Wednesday, February 1, 1921 in the Royal George Freemasonary Hall in Okser Street, 48 students, the first acting head WR Riemersma and only three teachers. The opening speech was held by Mr TC Stoffberg, member of the Transvaal Executive Council and chairman of the school management. At the end of the quarter the school closed with 58 pupils. The school year ended with 60 pupils. At the beginning of 1922 the school was moved to an old café with residential annexes and the first permanent head, Mr. PWS Schumann is appointed. The staff consist of four teachers. The head (German) Mr. MJ Kok (Science), ML Brink (Mathematics) and CG Rossouw (History). The number of learners rose to 128.
