SANCA Aurora was established in June 1966. Services initially focused on prevention, but an out patient service was established during 1969. During 1972 the first in-patient treatment facility for the Free State was opened. The need for treatment services have increased to the extent that a 42-bed facility was built during 1992. The huge demand for youth treatment facilities resulted in the acquirement of adjacent buildings for a youth treatment centre that will come into operation during 2007/2008.The Centre has since its inception been involved in the prevention of substance abuse and has over 40 years build the reputation as a reliable source of accurate information on the use, abuse and dependency of substances.
